The Girl and the Dinosaur
A new family theatre production in development
Inspired by the picture book by Hollie Hughes & Sarah Massini • Supported by Arts Council England, National Theatre Studio, Jacksons Lane and Lighthouse Poole
About the show
The Girl and the Dinosaur is Flock Theatre Makers’ new family production inspired by Hollie Hughes and Sarah Massini’s beloved picture book. At its heart the piece explores friendship and the small, brave ways we hold on to what we love.
Marianne finds dinosaur bones on the beach and wishes, with all her heart, that something extraordinary might return. What follows is a gentle, playful journey that blends live performance, movement, sound and visual storytelling how imagination can be lived through play.
This production is currently in research & development. We are working with artists and partner venues to shape a show that will sit alongside our existing work for young audiences — warm, surprising and full of heart.
Development & partners
This project is supported by Arts Council England and benefits from the creative input and studio time provided by National Theatre Studio, Jacksons Lane and Lighthouse Poole.
We are currently in R&D (research & development), undertaking creative workshops, early-stage rehearsals and community conversations through Autumn into Spring 2026. As the project develops we will share behind-the-scenes updates, images and opportunities to engage.
